Catalogs of Library Materials

LINC - Libraries IN Cooperation (LINC) is an online catalog of over 95 libraries in East Central Illinois. Use LINC to order books, renew materials, or place hold on materials for delivery to your local library. Please note: when placing a request, you will be asked for your Pin Number, which is the last 4 digits of your phone number. 

I-Share - is a catalog of materials in 76 Illinois libraries belonging to CARLI (Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois).  It includes holding and information for items all public colleges and universities in the state. 

Databases and Research

The Mahomet Public Library subscribes to several databases that are available to all patrons. 

FirstSearch - a collection of 14 databases available to Illinois residents through an Illinois State Library cooperative purchase. The databases cover business, health, and education information, goverment documents, magazine citations and full-text articles. Contact the library for login assistance.

Infotrac - a database of nearly 2 million periodical and journal articles, many of which are full-text. Mahomet Public Library patrons may access Infotrac from their home computers using their library card numbers. Contact the library for the password for your account. 

World Book Online - The online version of the World Book Encyclopedia. It includes over 40,000 articles on a wide range of topics and is a great resource for students and adults.

Illinois Clicks! -An information website with quality internet resources on a variety of topics, reviewed and selected by Illinois librarians

 ipl2 -a merger of the former Internet Public Library and Librarian's Index to the Internet, ipl2 is a rich assortment of internet resources as compiled by librarians. Research questions may be submitted to librarians via email as well.

Medical Research Assistance 

PDR Health -  the consumer Web protal of the Physicians' Dest Reference (PDR), which has provided trusted and authoritative drug and clinical explanations of disease states and conditions, as well as the safe and effective use of prescription and non-prescription drugs as well as herbal medicines.

Medline Plus - directs users to information to help answer health questions. MedlinePlus bring together authoritative information from NLM, The National Institutes of Health (NIH), and other government agencies and health-related organizations. Preformulated MEDLINE searches are included in MedlinePlus and also extensive information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials, and the latest health news.

Zip Code Lookup - US Postal Service website that allows users to lookup zip codes and "zip + 4" codes. 

Consumer Guide - Contains federal government consumer reports on food, product safety, health, technology, transportation and more.

United States Patent and Trademark Office - Look here to see if someone has already thought of your brilliant idea.  Also links explaining trademark and copyright law and resources for inventors.

Day Care Licensing Standards - resources related to child care in Illinois including licensing standards and contact information for child-related state agencies.

Common Sense Media - Non-partisan, not-for-profit organization that provides trustworthy information and tools, as well as an independent forum, to help families make informed choices about the media they consume. 

Champaign County Historical and Genealogical Index - Browse Champaign County history by subject, name or street address.

Domestic Violence Resources - information on the rights of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
