Mahomet Card Holders

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Change in Champaign Public Library policies that affect Mahomet Library cardholders

Beginning November 1st, patrons with cards from Mahomet Public Library will no longer be able to use their Mahomet cards at the Champaign Public Library nor will they be able to get Champaign Library materials through interlibrary loan.  Persons who wish to continue to check out items at Champaign can do so by purchasing a Champaign Public Library card which will be available October 4th for an annual fee of $200.

Mahomet library board and staff regret that there has been a change in Champaign Public Library's borrowing policies which affect both Mahomet and Tolono library card holders.  Mahomet Library patrons have enjoyed checking out materials from the Champaign Library for many years, last year borrowing almost 8 items from Champaign to every 10 borrowed from Mahomet.  In these difficult economic times, it is understandable that Champaign Library's first priority is their local taxpayers.

The potential loss of borrowing privileges has been a concern to Mahomet Library's boards and staff for over 15 years and has been one of the major reasons we worked so diligently for a new Mahomet Library building.  We are most grateful to our taxpayers for this spacious new library building, and we encourage you to visit it and see all that your home library has to offer.
